The coach of Wyre Forest Pheonix Girls reports on their game played Saturday 5th February against Kingfisher:

“Phoenix bounce back.

After a gutting penalty shootout semi final cup defeat in their last game, Phoenix got back to winning ways on Saturday.

With both teams struggling to get to grips with the long grassy pitch, it became a bit of a scrappy first half.  Phoenix created the most chances but failed to take any early on with some close but just not close enough chances.

Just before half time, Jones, managed to tap in from close range after the home team goalie fumbled a brilliant Tarnowski cross. There were a few words at half time to put a bit more confidence into the girls and get them playing like they can do.

The second half started very similar to the first with neither team getting any quality on the ball. It took a solo run from Dunlop to spark a bit of life into the game. She got passed a couple of players before her shot was saved by the goalie, only for Dunlop to fire in the rebound. Phoenix played some great football from this point onwards and were unlucky to not go more goals up. Just before the final whistle Harris slotted in a third from the edge of the box, to round of the win.

Not the teams best performance by a long shot but three more points in the league and up to third place with a game in hand on the two teams above them”.
