We are delighted to announce that our Sharon Rowley has passed her re-accreditation for the Solicitors for the Elderly Older Client Care Practice Award. Sharon is a qualified chartered legal executive and is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Only a very select group of people can become members of Solicitors for the Elderly. They are a community of trusted advisers – professionally highly qualified and regulated and who also have additional skills to enable them to work with older and vulnerable clients. They must spend at least 50% of their time working with older and vulnerable clients.
As specialists, SFE members are also trained in older client care so that they are able to take into account any difficulties both mental and physical which can affect older and vulnerable clients and are aware of the health and social problems that people may face, be it making a Will, a power of attorney, paying for care, court of protection applications, elder abuse, asset preservation or NHS continuing healthcare.
SFE members will provide independent, confidential advice, which is in the best interests of older or vulnerable clients, respecting their dignity and understand the need for a holistic approach to problem solving. They will endeavour to follow a plain English policy i.e. they will always communicate in easy, understandable language and will explain any necessary legal terminology.
Working with a reputable lawyer, such as a member of SFE, will ensure that you have all the legal documents in place to get you what you have planned for and that you have considered the pitfalls that may face you in later life and how to avoid them if possible.
